Duolouge assesment

Duolouge assesment:

How did it go? It went really well up till near then end when me and my partner didn't pick up when we got stuck.

If I did it again what would I change? More practice time and more focus because I wasn't very focused when I was performing.

What have I learnt? I have learnt that I can do the work if I put my mind to it.

mime

Acting: Wed 6th march 13.
What does the typical mime artist look like? A typical mime artist would dress in black and white stripped t-shirt/ long sleeved shirt, with plain black trousers, black shoes, with an optional black bowler hat or beret, and a pair of black suspenders as for make-up, a mime will reflect emotion with in their make-up choice.
This is important in acting because it allows the audience to understand the emotions portrayed by the artist and it sets the atmosphere and mood of the performance.

warm up:
all actors must do a vocal and physical warm up to prop for any acting lesson or audition and it will help with some focus,
one of our first warm ups, was the shake, which is how is sounds you shake apart of you body shake though and pass to a new person and it keeps going, after we did the clay warm up where you are in pairs and the first partner is an artist and the other partner is "clay" , the artist must make a model out of this clay is the time slot given and must use time wisely and explain the piece afterwards, and it is the same once the partners have sopped.
how improv is effective?
it is effective in many ways because it can show how much skill and creativity you have on the spot,
and improv will help when you are given a scenario and it shows creativity in your mind.

melodrama.
what is a melodrama?
The term melodrama refers to a dramatic work that exaggerates plot and characters in order to appeal to the emotions.
A melodrama was also created in the 18th century, and because only 2 theatres could show scripted plays all other theatres could only do plays that had music playing in the background ergo the term melodrama.
also in today's lesson we got given a latter and was in a group of 4/5 people in my group we had a letter called grotty towers, this letter said that a lady (miss Elizabeth) was to meet her future husband in the theatre at 8pm but instead of meeting him she got kidnapped and given to the leader of the man who stole Elizabeth.
in this group we needed a damsel, villein, and a narrator , and we had to create a melodrama from this letter we had been given.

In this lesson we did a vocal and physical warm up, too warm our muscles in our face to do this we pulled funny faces and opened our face as wide as we could the tightened them as much as we could and to warm up our bodies we did imitations of what ever the teacher told us such as an old man, lady or prisoner, just to see how we held our posture as that kind of person and see how we could compare it to our own posture, to do a vocal warm up we did tongue twisters, lips and tongue exercises mix with some humming to relax the vocal cords and prep them for the lesson.

once we had finished warming up we got given our lesson brief which was prep our self's for our monologue.

In order to focus on our monologue our teacher got us to relax our bodies and minds to avoid any stress, and relaxing would help stay focused on the monologue, we had to try and link our own experiences to the character in the monologue we chose in order to give it more depth, to do that we also had to analyse the script and pick out some key details, such as the characters actions, emotions, personality and accent, and from analyzing the script i found out that hedwig was a young teenager, her father had left her when he found out she wasnt his daughter, and the love for hedwig turns to hate and for the wild duck..
